Broken arm

August 3, Luke decided to jump off of our swing set (about 5' up) and he landed wrong. He came crying to me with his left arm dangling and obviously broken. Of course Kenneth was out of town that night (in Indiana), so I ran to our neighbors house and she went with me to urgent care and the rest of her family watched Esther for me.
Long story short he broke both bones in his forearm. The only times he cried at the hospital was when they took x-rays and when they had to "mold" his arm in the cast. Kenneth sped home when I called him and got to the hospital at about 10:30 at night.
My mom came over and put Esther to bed, which was nice because we didn't get home until 11:30PM. So, here are some pictures of the little man with his casts.

After the 1st day of having the cast on, it didn't really stop him from doing anything.
Luke and his friend Eli

After one week of having the cast on, he went back to the doctor and got the option of a new waterproof cast. We definitely went for that option since it is still summer! He cried when the nurse had to saw off his cast, so she gave him a sucker which he said was so good and made everything better!

With no nap and 2 hours at the doctors office, he had enough
the next day He even got a few signatures on it!
I love it when Esther "reads" to Luke, she is so motherly. There are about 3 books that she knows well enough to read to him and he just listens so intently.
Since he got the waterproof cast, we've been doing more water things - if my energy level can take it. And we've gone to the park a few times too.
On another note, one of the kids favorite things to do is shuck corn - they fight over who can shuck the most.
Esther is definitely a Ross, she gets every last piece of silk off of the corn.
Grandpa came over one day and we got a picture with him before he left for his 2 week Swaziland missions trip.
I had to get a picture of Esther talking to Kenneth on the phone. She looks like she's 4 going on 14!
Lastly, Esther has been taking swimming lessons the last 2 months. The class in July, I had to be in the water with her. Now the one in August, she is just with the teacher and she loves it! This summer she is doing so well in the water. last summer she was scared to go down the little slide at the waterpark and now she is going down the big slide in the deep end of the pool! She also loves to swim all the way down to the deep end with the barbells and she puts her whole head under water (which she wouldn't even come close to doing last summer). Just watching her all summer in swimming lessons and at the waterpark, each day I saw her make improvements in not being scared of the water.

Here she is with her barbell in the water
doing her front float

And going down the big slide! Perfect action shot!
the swimming lessons have been so nice for Esther because with me being so far along with the pregnancy, I just don't have the energy to take both of them to the waterpark much. So, with her swimming lessons, at least she's able to get in the pool and swim twice a week!

The videos are of the kids singing their favorite songs!
