I bundled the kids up (The high was 29 that day) and we went to the Christmas tree lighting and parade at our outdoor mall. I really didn't want to go because it was so cold, but I had already told Esther about it and that Santa would be there, so we had to go.
Well, the parade consisted of a band and Santa, so she did get to see Santa, but that was about it. I was glad we were only there for 30 minutes waiting for the parade to start, because we were all frozen within 10 minutes (and both kids were crying after about 20). But, the highlight of their night was that they got to wear their new snow boots.
On Saturday, I started decorating the house for Christmas, my favorite time of year! It's especially fun having kids that enjoy Christmas now. One of Esther's and now Luke's favorite Christmas decorations is a hallmark musical present she got 2 years ago. You press a button and the snowmen and penguins dance and sing "rockin' around the Christmas tree".
For about 3 days, that's all they did was play with this thing. Luke loved the snowmen so much that one day I came in and found him hugging them, so I had to get a picture.
The day after Thanksgiving, November 28, we decorated the Christmas trees. Esther really got into it and she helped me while the men went and looked at lights (Kenneth's brother was here from Florida). She actually chose to stay home and help me decorate instead of going to look at lights and the big tree at the mall. She was such a good helper, and so organized. She really did help!
Luke even got to help a little
On Saturday, Kenneth finished the lights on the outside. I did the greenery and lights on the porch, but he did all the rest, and the pictures really don't do all of Kenneth's work justice! We're kind of nuts about lights at Christmas time, but it makes things so cheery at Christmas time. I've got lots of them inside too!

By the looks of the kids little red noses, it certainly must have been freezing!
Everything looks beautiful at your home, now you just need some snow! I really miss the snow at Christmas. The lights and decorations aren't as pretty here without the blanket of snow covering the homes, trees, and landscapes.
Love,
Melissa
